The Role

Reporting to the Sales Manager, this is a commercially focused Sales Account Manager position with responsibility for managing and developing a portfolio of key customers across the UK and Europe.

You will take ownership of the full customer relationship, driving sales growth, improving margins, identifying new business opportunities, and maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction.

Working closely with applications engineering and internal teams, you will play a key role in understanding customer requirements and translating these into commercially viable and technically appropriate solutions.

The role involves regular travel, primarily across the UK and Europe, and would suit an experienced B2B sales or account management professional who enjoys developing long-term customer relationships while actively pursuing new commercial opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and develop a portfolio of major customer accounts, building strong and trusted relationships at multiple levels.
  • Identify and drive growth opportunities, with responsibility for account performance, customer satisfaction, sustainability, and sales targets.
  • Develop a detailed understanding of customer requirements, market conditions, industry trends, and emerging technologies to identify commercial opportunities.
  • Proactively identify and pursue new business opportunities, managing leads from initial contact through to quotation, negotiation, and close.
  • Work closely with applications engineering and internal stakeholders to understand customer requirements and deliver best-fit, competitively priced solutions.
  • Prepare and maintain account plans, sales forecasts, and regular performance reports, ensuring commercial systems and forecasts remain accurate and up to date.
  • Monitor account performance against agreed metrics, sales budgets, and strategic objectives.
  • Act as the key communication link between customers and internal teams, ensuring requirements are clearly understood and effectively delivered.
  • Resolve customer issues and complaints professionally and promptly, maintaining strong relationships and protecting long-term business.
  • Keep up to date with developments across the automotive, construction, agricultural, material handling, and related markets, sharing relevant insight with customers and internal teams.
  • Manage time effectively to maximise customer engagement, meet key decision makers, develop opportunities, and deliver commercial results.

Skills & Experience Required
  • Proven experience in B2B sales and/or account management, ideally within Automotive, Construction, Agriculture, Material Handling, or a related manufacturing environment.
  • A strong track record of managing customer accounts, developing commercial relationships, and delivering against sales budgets and targets.
  • Commercial awareness, with a good understanding of market trends, customer requirements, and value drivers.
  • A consultative sales approach, with the ability to understand customer challenges and position appropriate products and solutions based on value.
  • A proactive and tenacious approach to identifying, developing, and winning new business opportunities.
  • Exceptional relationship-building and networking skills, with confidence engaging with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Strong communication, influencing, and negotiation skills, with the ability to manage cross-functional stakeholders both internally and externally.
  • Highly organised, self-motivated, and capable of managing multiple accounts, opportunities, and priorities effectively.
  • Strong Microsoft 365 skills.
  • A full UK driving licence and willingness to travel throughout the UK and Europe

Qualifications

Degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant discipline preferred, although relevant commercial experience will be considered.
