The Role

We are looking for an experienced Quality Engineer to play a key role within a busy Quality Department. Working cross-functionally with suppliers, customers, and internal teams, you'll help drive a culture of operational excellence and Right First Time thinking - ensuring that products, processes, and systems consistently meet internal, customer, and regulatory standards.

This is a varied, hands-on role that spans quality assurance, supplier management, continuous improvement, internal auditing, and KPI reporting - with real scope to make an impact across the business.


Key Responsibilities

Quality Assurance & Compliance

  • Ensure supplied and internally manufactured products comply with engineering drawings, manufacturing specifications, and all applicable standards
  • Support and maintain ISO 9001 compliance and contribute to the ongoing development of the Integrated Management System (IMS)
  • Act as the recognised point of contact for quality-related issues across the business

Supplier, Customer & Internal Interface

  • Liaise with suppliers, customers, and internal teams to investigate non-conformances and ensure effective CAPA implementation
  • Monitor supplier quality performance and drive improvement initiatives
  • Manage customer complaints with clear communication and timely resolution

Continuous Improvement & Problem Solving

  • Lead structured problem-solving activities including 8D investigations, root cause analysis (5 Why), and corrective action planning
  • Identify and implement quality improvement opportunities across products and processes
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement and Right First Time thinking

Audits & Reporting

  • Plan and perform internal IMS, supplier, and safety audits
  • Support external ISO audits and regulatory assessments
  • Track and report quality KPIs including PPM, Pareto analysis and trends

Coaching & Collaboration

  • Provide guidance and support to team members on quality tools and best practices
  • Work closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Production, Supply Chain and HSE functions


What We're Looking For

  • Proven experience in a Quality Engineering or Quality Assurance role within a manufacturing or production environment
  • Minimum HNC or HND qualification in a relevant discipline (or equivalent experience)
  • Completed 4-year mechanical apprenticeship
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing and assembly processes
  • Demonstrated ability to apply quality methodologies including 8D, 5 Why, Pareto analysis and PPM performance monitoring
  • Strong analytical skills with a structured approach to root cause investigation
  • Confident user of SAP and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Full, current UK driving licence

 


Salary & Benefits

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a tight-knit, skilled team where your expertise will be truly valued and where there is real scope for growth as the business expands. You will work within a small turning department, jointly responsible for five CNC lathes, taking each job from initial programming right through to final inspection. The role demands a high degree of skill and ownership, this isn't a button-pushing role. You'll be expected to programme, set and run your own work, produce quality components and take pride in what you make.   About the Company Our client is a well-equipped precision engineering company, operating with a small but highly skilled team, they run an impressive array of plant including eight Haas Milling Machines, three Doosan CNC Lathes, a Haas ST-20Y mill turn lathe - with a further Doosan 2600M being added in May 2026.
