As a Mechanical Field Service Engineer, you will be the face of the company on-site at customer facilities worldwide. You will install, commission, repair and maintain highly sophisticated high-speed machinery, working directly with major manufacturers to keep critical production lines running at peak performance. Compensation & Benefits Base Salary: £40,676 With Service Pay Premium (80%): £73,216.80 Annual Bonus: Up to £2,200 Healthcare: Health Cash Plan + BUPA Health Insurance Annual Leave: 33 days Pension: Enhanced Pension Scheme Life Assurance: Included Travel: Extensive – approx. 200 days per year, UK & international What You'll Be Doing Installation, commissioning, repair and maintenance of high-speed machinery on customer premises - such as packaging machinery, printing machinery etc. Producing detailed visit reports covering all activity carried out during time on customer sites Updating technical bulletins and keeping customers informed of the latest product developments Identifying opportunities for machine upgrades and enhancements with customers Working independently and managing your own workload while deployed at customer sites, often for extended periods Acting as a trusted technical ambassador for the business in front of a global customer base What We're Looking For Qualifications & Knowledge Time-served apprentice-trained Mechanical Engineer Sound knowledge of packaging machinery  Off-set lithographic printing experience would be advantageous Experience Minimum 2 years' experience as a mechanical fitter, production engineer, printing engineer or similar - ideally within a capital equipment manufacturer Experience working remotely on customer sites for extended periods preferred Systematic and practical approach to fault finding Skills & Attributes Strong communication skills with the ability to work efficiently under pressure Good attention to detail Ability to work independently, without supervision Strong customer focus Resilience and adaptability A Note on Travel This role involves approximately 200 days of travel per year, both within the UK and internationally. Hands-on work, done properly.  The Role  You’ll be working within the assembly department at Wortley, Leeds—supporting skilled mechanical fitters and getting involved in the full range of sub-assembly activity. The work is varied: no two days are identical, and you’ll be building practical knowledge of precision OEM machinery as you go.  Typical duties include:  Building sub-assemblies using standard operating procedures and fixtures  Preparing components for painting (washing and masking) and finishing after paint (re-tapping, reaming, cleaning)  Marking off, drilling, and tapping  Installing exterior equipment: nameplates, guard switches, hydraulic hoses, and pumps  Routing steel and nylon pipework  Unpacking and preparing parts for assembly  Fitting non-electrical services prior to testing  Applying sealants and assisting with non-electrical stripping before dispatch  About You  We’re not looking for a CV full of qualifications. We’re looking for someone who is genuinely good with their hands, takes quality seriously, and can follow a procedure without needing to be chased.  You’ll be a strong fit if you have:  Solid hand tool experience from a manufacturing, engineering, or assembly environment  Confidence working with mechanical components and assemblies to a defined spec  A background in motor mechanics, machine building, mechanical assembly, or a related trade—whether through work, training, or personal projects  Attention to detail and a flexible, team-first attitude  Willingness to follow standard operating procedures and escalate issues correctly  NVQ Level 3 in an engineering discipline (desirable, not essential—it moves your starting salary to £35,932)  No formal qualifications?
