We are committed to loving our communities, and on May 20th 2018, the Cubed Team and our friends & families took part in the Martin House Children’s Hospice Dragon Boat Race at Roundhay Park, Leeds.

Our team ‘Grace’s Palace full of Princesses’ is in memory of a special little girl called Grace Hitchens.   The Hitchens family are close friends of Cubed and they have been supported by Martin House since their son Harry and daughter Grace were diagnosed with a life limiting condition called Niemann Pick Type C.  Sadly, the illness took Harry’s life at seven years of age, and last month, Grace passed away aged 13.  Martin House were there for the family throughout, and have been a tremendous source of comfort, love and support to the whole family.

Grace was tremendously brave, she loved life and brought so much sunshine and happiness to many people throughout her short life.  She also loved Disney Princesses, so the team thought it fitting our boat should be filled with Princesses, pink bows and tutus - just as Grace would have wished.

The day was a sun, fun & love filled occasion and the team certainly fulfilled the ambition of being the brightest, most pink princesses in the race!

Martin House look after 350 families across the region who have children with life limiting conditions, and they rely totally on donations to fund their £5 million a year costs. So far, we have raised £1,830 – smashing the Martin House team target of £1,000 and every day we are edging closer to our stretch target of £2,000.
