A proper engineering environment.  The Role  Based at the Wortley, Leeds site, you’ll play a key role in the assembly and testing of bespoke OEM machinery to precise customer specifications. This isn’t repetitive production work - you’ll be involved in problem solving, supporting less experienced colleagues, and contributing to non-conformance investigations. If you’ve got depth as a mechanical fitter, there’s room to use it.  Day-to-day responsibilities include:  Assembly and testing of OEM machinery to meet customer requirements and engineering drawings  Delegating and supporting semi-skilled colleagues on non-complex assembly tasks  Carrying out Operator Asset Care and maintaining 6S standards  Escalating parts, drawings, routings, and machine faults through the correct channels  Participating in non-conformance investigations using 5Y/8D methodology  Following stock control procedures accurately  Providing on-the-job training and support to apprentices and new starters  About You  We’re looking for an experienced mechanical fitter who takes quality and safety seriously. You’ll need:  Apprentice-trained or NVQ Level 3 in a mechanical engineering discipline  Minimum 2 years’ experience in a similar mechanical assembly or fitting role  Confident reading engineering drawings, assembly instructions, and standard operating procedures  Experience working to tight tolerances in a precision engineering environment  Familiarity with 6S, lean manufacturing, or structured problem-solving tools (5Y/8D an advantage)  Any background in metal forming, press tooling, or industrial OEM machinery is a distinct advantage  Flexible, proactive, team-oriented — and someone who doesn’t need to be told twice to escalate a problem  How to Apply  This role is available now and likely to move quickly. Hands-on work, done properly.  The Role  You’ll be working within the assembly department at Wortley, Leeds - supporting skilled mechanical fitters and getting involved in the full range of sub-assembly activity. The work is varied: no two days are identical, and you’ll be building practical knowledge of precision OEM machinery as you go.  Typical duties include:  Building sub-assemblies using standard operating procedures and fixtures  Preparing components for painting (washing and masking) and finishing after paint (re-tapping, reaming, cleaning)  Marking off, drilling, and tapping  Installing exterior equipment: nameplates, guard switches, hydraulic hoses, and pumps  Routing steel and nylon pipework  Unpacking and preparing parts for assembly  Fitting non-electrical services prior to testing  Applying sealants and assisting with non-electrical stripping before dispatch  About You  We’re not looking for a CV full of qualifications. We’re looking for someone who is genuinely good with their hands, takes quality seriously, and can follow a procedure without needing to be chased.  You’ll be a strong fit if you have:  Solid hand tool experience from a manufacturing, engineering, or assembly environment  Confidence working with mechanical components and assemblies to a defined spec  A background in motor mechanics, machine building, mechanical assembly, or a related trade—whether through work, training, or personal projects  Attention to detail and a flexible, team-first attitude  Willingness to follow standard operating procedures and escalate issues correctly    How to Apply  Multiple roles, available now. It's a hands-on, self-sufficient role, so you'll be comfortable owning your workload and getting on with it. What you'll be doing Payroll — running monthly payroll for hourly and salaried staff, submitting to HMRC and the pension provider, and answering staff pay queries. Ledger management — sales ledger (invoices, statements, credit control and weekly sales reports) and purchase ledger (processing invoices, monthly supplier payment runs, checking statements and handling supplier queries). Banking — daily reconciliation of all bank accounts, preparing payments, reconciling credit card and petty cash, and managing cashflow. Financial reporting — quarterly VAT returns, maintaining and reconciling prepayments, monthly journals and ad-hoc reporting. What we're looking for Experience of payroll processing is essential, along with solid Excel skills and the confidence to work independently. Experience with Xero and BrightPay would be a real bonus, but isn't essential.
